☞ Lost Dungeons and Forbidden Woods: The Art of Plastiboo
Plastiboo is a digital artist from Italy. They have written two books, as well as curated an extensive collection of art available on Tumblr, Instagram, and other social medias. They create mostly horror art.
Plastiboo's profile picture on Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram, is a putty-like black cat. |
Plastiboo has published two books, part of the same series: Vermis. The first is Vermis I: Lost Dungeons and Forbidden Woods, while the second is Vermis II: Mist & Mirrors.
Both books take on the guise of being guides for nonexistant unsettling video games, featuring content such as levels, foes to be fought, entities to align with, items to obtain, the lore of the world, and more. The setting for both is a grim, fantastical medieval scene, with many magical beasts obstructing the way forwards for our errant player character.
The first book has had multiple reprints, with the second set to follow in its footsteps. Both books are published by Hollow Press, an independent Italian publishing house that specializes in artbooks, comics, and games.
I truly adore Plastiboo's art, and have ever since I discovered it on Tumblr a few years ago. I love the grungy, medieval aesthetic they so often employ, as well as the textures they add to their art that gives it a kind of grit. I actually own a copy of Vermis I, and hope to own the second one day! It's a really beautiful book.
The music used on this page is called shade sanctum, written by Plastiboo's brother. It can be found here!
Below is a gallery of my very favourite works by Plastiboo. Out of respect, I have not included any images from Vermis that are not already publically available. These images are not in any sort of order! I love them all deeply.
