> my epic writing journeys

nov 14 been working on hyperwave :-) also finished a complete draft for my narrative short story. it's not the best, but it'll have to do. feeling a lot like my writing is very insipid and shallow -- i have fallen out of the habit. i always say to myself i will do more but i don't, and i think that's the core of the issue. no one good ever got anywhere by MOPING.

oct 18 updating this tomorrow but i've been tinkering with hyperwave a lot and i'm excited to start work on it. i've felt really stupid all this week so i haven't been able to write much for anything even though i promised myself i'd crank out the next chap of protocol over break. oh well... -_- i guess there's still tomorrow!

nov 28 got back to where i was at the shoulders!

nov 14 10 cms to go before i get back to where i was :-) will probably make it back by monday. it looks so much tidier too!

nov 8 frogged it AGAIN! this time i made it as far as the right shoulder. upsetting! it was because i decided it was way too small... the original pattern uses thicker yarn than me so i need to account for that when when i size. -___- it's ok, i like knittng so it's not exactly wasted time, but it was sad to lose that much progress. but then again, i only worked on it for a few hours over not many days so if i'm diligent and actually work on it regularly, i should catch up to where i was by the end of the week or sooner.

oct 19 made good progress today! had to frog a few lines but i fixed the problem. only 10cm or so left for this part.

oct 18 ok so i said all of that and then i frogged the colourwork like twice so now i'm sick of the whole affair. i don't think colourwork is *hard*, it's just a bit tricky and i don't think i have the time for a project like that right now but i still really want to make something because i have such a nice navy yarn! so i started knitting this. it's much easier because it's mostly in stockinette and in a solid colour so it's relatively mindless and very soothing. see attached: my progress about halfway through today's session, after i finished the increases for the back.

may ?? i've wanted to knit my own sweaters for ever and ever and ever. i started learning how to knit two or so years ago, and i finally felt ready to tackle it! it's not that complicated, it just takes a lot of time.

i found this pattern by starcrossedknits off pinterest a few months ago and decided to set my sights on it because i looove the unicorn tapestry and open cardigans and thought it would be fun and it is! i got about 1/8th through the back colourwork before unravelling it because i wasn't really sure how to manage floats at first and didn't want to finish the whole sweater with 10 rows of ugly floats in the background. i'm going to restart it tomorrow (may 13) and i'll upload pictures of what i have then too :-).

"For many years Cavedagna has followed books as they are made, bit by bit, he sees books be born and die every day, and yet the true books for him remain others, those of the time when for him they were like messages from other worlds. And so it is with authors: he deals with them every day, he knows their fixations, indecisions, susceptibilities, egocentricities, and yet the true authors remain those who for him were only a name on a jacket, a word that was part of the title, authors who had the same reality as their characters, as the places mentioned in the books, who existed and didn’t exist at the same time, like those characters and those countries. The author was an invisible point from which the books came, a void traveled by ghosts, an underground tunnel that put other worlds in communication with the chicken coop of his boyhood...."
